Where Can I Serve?

Jesus told us, his disciples, to make disciples of all nations. One of the most important values of Our Savior Lutheran Church is our mission to the world. It begins in our own community, and spreads overseas to every nation. Our Savior Lutheran Church members are involved in a variety of ministries from things as simple as praying for those in need, to teaching Sunday School, to helping with our new Comfort Dog ministry.

Sunday School Teachers & Bible Class Leaders

One need only need turn on the TV or take a quick glance at the computer screen to understand that the prince of this world, Satan, is very much at work trying to pull believers away from God through the temptations and allures of this world.  Our Christian faith is under attack in many different ways throughout our society. This is why it is critical that all of us "put on the armor of God" (Ephesians 6) that we can withstand the attacks of the evil one, remain steadfast within God's family, and be able to defend our faith in Christ from the many onslaughts which our culture throws at us. We would love to have you help us raise up a new generation of Christians, not only teaching them about the truths of Scripture, but teaching them to defend their Christian faith in the face of an increasingly secular world. In addition, our hope is to involve many more adults of our congregation in corporate study of God's Word, both on Sundays and throughout the week, that they to would be able to give an answer for their faith (1 Peter 3:15) and equip their children to do the same through family study at home.  If you are interested in serving as a Sunday School teacher or Bible Class leader, contact Pastor Gibbs.

Music

Martin Luther once said, "Music is an endowment and gift of God, not a gift of men. It also drives away the devil and makes people cheerful; one forgets all anger, unchasteness, pride, and other vices.  I place music next to theology and give it the highest praise." (Luther's Table Talk, 6). Because music is a gift of God it serves an important part of the Divine Service here at Our Savior Lutheran.  The sacred music of the Church, which has endured through the centuries, is heard through both congregational and choral singing, as well as through instrumental pieces.  The Adult and Children's Choirs often lead the congregation the singing of the historic liturgy and proclaim God's grace through hymnody and both ancient and contemporary anthems. All are welcome to join the choirs. We love our volunteers who use their musical talents and gifts to glorify God. If you would like to join our music ministries, contact Stephanie Gibbs.

Greeters & Ushers

The greeter and usher teams at Our Savior Lutheran fill an important role. They are involved in welcoming people to God's House, assisting them in finding a seat within the sanctuary, passing out service folders, answering any questions people might have regarding the church, collecting the offering, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. The greeter and usher teams are a servant-hearted group of men and women whose ministry is integral to church life. To volunteer, see the church secretary, Kendra Morts.

Word of Life Radio Ministry

Since 1992, Our Savior Lutheran Church has been spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ through a live radio broadcast of the Sunday morning Divine Service on WGFA 94.1 fm (also streamed live on the world wide web via www.wgfaradio.com). Each Sunday morning a dedicated team of volunteers serve as our radio hosts and ensure that the broadcast is heard clearly over the airwaves. In addition to our radio hosts, another group of volunteers serve as Sound Board monitors, ensuring that the audio of the service is maintained at optimum levels.  To volunteer as a radio host or as a soundboard monitor, contact Dave Lucht.

Altar Guild

Throughout the history of the Church, there has always been those who have attended to the items used to edify the worship of its congregants.  Over time, this group of people have come to be known as the altar guild. The altar guild serves in the spirit of those called into service in Acts 6:1-6 and serve by ensuring that the place of worship is maintained and set up for the Divine Service. This happens by ensuring that the appropriate paraments, banners, and linens are put out, cleaned, and stored correctly. They also are responsible for the set-up of the Sacrament of the Altar.  The altar guild is open to men and women, both young and old. To serve the Lord and His Church in this way, contact Kendra Morts.

Prayer Chain

God commands and invites believers in Jesus Christ to come before His throne of mercy in prayer, confident that He will hear and answer our prayers (Matthew 7:7-8). In light of God's promises to us, Our Savior Lutheran Church is a body of believers who relies on the power of prayer and is often at work lifting up our brothers and sisters who are in need. As a congregation, we lift up those who have requested our prayers before the Lord and then throughout the week, prayer chain members pray for their pastor, a list of church members, and any other special requests which have been brought before the church.  Interested in being a member of the prayer chain? Contact Pastor Gibbs. Have a prayer request? Go to the home page and send your prayer request via the prayer request box located there.
